Hoyle Granger played football at Mississippi State from 1963 to 1965.
While at State, Granger was a three-time letterwinner ('63, '64, '65) and earned All-SEC honors in 1963 (3rd Team), 1964 (2nd Team) and 1965 (2nd Team). He led the Bulldogs in rushing each of his three seasons playing for State. He rushed for 481 yards in 1963, 604 yards in 1964 and 449 yards in 1965.
The Louisiana native exceeded the 100-yard milestone in a game twice, both vs. Alabama in 1964 and again in 1965.
In 1966, he was drafted to the NFL in the 4th round by the Baltimore Colts. He was also drafted to the AFL in the 5th round by the Houston Oilers. In seven professional seasons, Granger accounted for 4,992 yards from scrimmage and 24 total touchdowns.
He was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2005, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 2008 and the M-Club Hall of Fame in 2008.
