Glen Young played football for Mississippi State from 1979 to 1982 and played in MSU’s first-ever back-to-back bowl games in 1980 and 1981.Â

Young was an All-American candidate who led the nation in 1981 with an average of 16,2 yards per punt return. He set a school record for all-purpose running average, career kickoff returns, and yards. When he finished his college career, he ranked second in the SEC for combined kick return average and led the nation in punt return average. He also played in the Senior Bowl and Blue-Gray game.Â

Not only did Young play football, but he was also a standout on the baseball field. He was a centerfielder for the Bulldogs and hit .333 in his senior season. He scored the winning run in six games for the team, which tied for fifth in the College World Series. Â

After his time with the Bulldogs, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and spent five seasons in the NFL. After his professional career, he returned to Mississippi State and served as the compliance officer, with a primary emphasis on eligibility certification for student-athletes. Â
