Former tennis great Hugh Thomson lettered in tennis, track and cross country from 1966-68.
A native of Narrogin, West Australia, Thomson played a key role in Mississippi State's tennis success in the 1960s. During his playing days, he helped guide the Bulldogs to a pair of SEC Championships and two runner-up finishes.
He posted a career record of 54-2 in SEC play, capturing SEC singles championships in 1965, 1967 and 1968. On the national stage, Thomson helped the Bulldogs finish seventh, third, third and ninth in the national rankings during his four years in Starkville.
Thomson also competed in track and cross country and served as Mississippi State's head coach in 1969-70.
