STARKVILLE, Miss. – If you're ready for college basketball, mark your calendar for Oct. 13 as Maroon Madness will officially usher in the 2017-18 campaign for both the men's and women's teams.
This year's event will be held at Humphrey Coliseum starting at 8:30 p.m.
Festivities include a dunk contest, a hot shot competition, scrimmages and much, much more. Students in attendance will also have the opportunity to win prizes.
The women, under the direction of 6th-year coach Vic Schaefer, return nine players from last year's Final Four team that posted a school-record 34 wins.
Ben Howland's men return four starters from last year's 16-16 squad that advanced to the second round of the SEC Tournament.
