Brandon Woodruff becomes the seventh Diamond Dawg from the 2013 CWS team to reach The Show
Woodruff Called Up By Brewers, Becomes 58th Bulldog To Reach MLB

STARKVILLE, Miss. – In June 2014, Brandon Woodruff was one of four Diamond Dawgs drafted in his class along with Jonathan Holder, Jacob Lindgren and Brett Pirtle. Just over three years later, Woodruff gets his shot at the highest level of professional baseball.
Woodruff will make his major league debut in Game One of Milwaukee's doubleheader with the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, with first pitch set for 1:15 p.m. at Busch Stadium.
The Milwaukee Brewers called up Woodruff from the Triple-A Colorado Sky Sox late Tuesday, making him the 58th Diamond Dawg in school history to reach the Majors.
A native of Tupelo, Miss., Woodruff shined in the minor league system, posting a 3.22 ERA and striking out 341 batters over 377.2 innings pitched. In 2017, Woodruff has pitched 12 games with the Sky Sox, striking out 60 over 63.1 innings pitched.
The call-up marks the first Diamond Dawg to be called up this season after five Bulldogs -- Adam Frazier, Chad Girodo, Chris Stratton Jonathan Holder and Hunter Renfroe -- made it to the big-leagues in 2016. Woodruff becomes the first Bulldog since Jack Lazorko to play for the Brewers and just the second in program history. Lazorko played for Milwaukee in 1984.
Woodruff is now the seventh member of the 2013 College World Series Diamond Dawg squad to reach the big leagues, joining Renfore, Frazier, Girodo, Holder, Kendall Graveman and Jacob Lindgren. He is also the eighth Bulldog drafted since head coach John Cohen took over in 2009 to play in the Majors.
A total of eight Diamond Dawgs from the 2012 team have now reached the big leagues, ties the Southeastern Conference record for MLB players from one team (2001 LSU and 2010 Florida).
In his three seasons at MSU, Woodruff bounced between starting and relief roles, posting a 4.60 ERA while tossing 81 strikeouts over 90 innings pitched.
