MSU, Adidas Unveil Alternate Uniform for UMass Game at Gillette Stadium

STARKVILLE, Miss. – For the first time since 1986, Mississippi State football will play a game in the Northeastern United States, while head coach Dan Mullen returns to his New England roots. To commemorate the special occasion, MSU and Adidas unveiled a new alternate uniform, which will be worn when the Bulldogs visit Gillette Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday kickoff against UMass.
Combining innovation with style and detailing, the new special edition uniform is centered around the iconic maroon and white colors of the Bulldog football program, along with metallic silver accents to create a bold alternate look. The color scheme creates a three-color tackle-twill template and is highlighted with the Mississippi State banner logo strategically placed across the chest plate of the jerseys.
Maroon continues to serve as the base color of the pants, highlighted by dual-stripe grey accent lining that unifies the uniform from the underarm of the jersey down to the calf. The prevalence of the maroon follows tradition as the MSU color has played a key role in the program's identity since 1895 when its first football coach, W.M. Matthews, selected the official school colors prior to its first-ever game against Union University.

He returns to the Boston area for the first time since completing the 120th Boston Marathon earlier this spring where he helped raise over $60,000 for his Mullen 36 Family Foundation.
Saturday's game is MSU's first in the Northeast since defeating Syracuse, 24-17, on Sept. 6, 1986. It marks the seventh straight season that the Bulldogs will play at least one game in an NFL stadium.
