MSU, UL-Lafayette Schedule 2018-19 Series For Davis Wade Stadium, Mercedes-Benz Superdome

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State and UL-Lafayette Thursday announced a two-game football series, with the two schools playing at MSU's Davis Wade Stadium in 2018 and New Orleans' Mercedes-Benz Superdome to open the 2019 season.
The "Home-and-Dome" series has the Bulldogs hosting the Ragin' Cajuns on Nov. 3, 2018, at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. The two meet again the following year in a season-opener at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on Aug. 31, 2019. UL-Lafayette will serve as the home team for the 2019 contest.
"This series makes sense because MSU gets a home game, followed by a neutral-site contest in a destination city our fans can get to easily," MSU Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin said. "The opportunity to open the 2019 season in the Superdome on Labor Day weekend is a huge plus."
State leads the all-time series with UL-Lafayette, 3-1, including a 31-3 victory in Starkville in the last meeting on Sept. 5, 1987. The 2019 matchup will be the Bulldogs' first regular season trip to the Superdome since defeating Tulane, 38-17, behind a 141-yard rushing performance from Anthony Dixon on Sept. 8, 2007. State owns a 6-2 mark all-time in the Superdome.
