Three Bulldogs Earn Preseason All-SEC Recognition

HOOVER, Ala. – Three Mississippi State Bulldogs were recognized on the 2016 Southeastern Conference Media Days Preseason All-SEC Team, the league office announced Friday.
Senior wide receiver Fred Ross was named to the second team, while senior linebacker Richie Brown and senior defensive end A.J. Jefferson earned spots on the third team.
Ross, a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award, heads into his final year with a chance to break the MSU career record books. He ranks fifth in catches (127), ninth in receiving touchdowns (10), 10th in receiving yards (1,611) and second in 100-yard receiving games (7). He's coming off an All-SEC first team junior campaign in which he led the conference in receptions per game (6.8).
Brown is up for two national awards and is the first MSU player to return after a 100-plus tackle season since Benardrick McKinney in 2013. Jefferson ranks ninth in MSU career history in tackles for loss (24.5).
The Bulldogs report for camp on Aug. 1 before going through their first practice on Aug. 2.
