Burn Ban
State and local fire officials have directed MSU to enforce the state burn ban, already in effect in Oktibbeha County, during the football game Saturday. MSU Police Chief Vance Rice said the language of the ban prohibits the use of charcoal, wood pellets, or other fire cooking methods that produce coals and embers. Gas grills are allowed, but users are expected to maintain maximum fire safety. Under state law, any person who knowingly and willfully violates a burn ban is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined between $100 and $500. Fires that damage land or properties and are started in violation of a burn ban bring legal liability to the person who started the fire.
Clear Bag Policy
Fans are reminded of Davis Wade Stadium's clear bag policy, which will be in effect Saturday. Only clear tote bags that do not exceed 12" x 6"" x 12" or one-gallon plastic freezer bags will be allowed in the stadium. In addition, small handheld clutch purses no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" will be permitted. Complete details are available on HailState.com/clearbag.
Golf Cart Policy
Privately owned golf carts are only to be operated on streets that are open for public traffic. Privately owned golf carts will not be allowed to access those streets that close prior to game time such as Creelman, B.S. Hood, and Stone Blvd. Golf carts are absolutely prohibited in tailgating areas such as the Barnes and Noble lawn, the FanFair area, the Junction, the West Lawn tent area, or other areas accessed by roads that are closed during game day. Series History
MSU and Texas A&M are meeting for the 10th time and the fourth time as both members of the SEC, while the Aggies lead the series, 5-4 and the series is 1-1 in games played in Starkville. The two teams have combined for 218 points in the last three meetings, as MSU won the last meeting in Starkville on Oct. 4, 2014 behind five TDs from Dak Prescott. Arguably, the most famous game between the two occurred in the 2000 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana, during a rare snowstorm in the area. The "Snow Bowl" saw Texas A&M build a 14-0 lead in the first quarter but MSU eventually won 43-41
Rarefied Air
Only three players in SEC history have thrown for over 400 yards and rushed for over 100 yards in the same game. With his performance against Samford, Nick Fitzgerald joined Archie Manning (Oct. 4, 1969 against Alabama) and Johnny Manziel (Sept. 29, 2012 against Arkansas). Fitzgerald is one of only two to achieve the feat nationally this season and is one of only 11 in FBS history. Louisville's Lamar Jackson did it against Syracuse on Sept. 9. In addition, Fitzgerald leads the nation in number of 300/100 games this season with two. He had 305 yards passing and 110 yards rushing at UMass earlier this season.
